Potential Customers

If you are a potential customer searching for auto transport services, the first thing that you notice would be checking the authenticity of the company with the Department of Transportation.

Generally in United States, all the companies providing transportation services are supposed to possess a license to do so with the US Department of Transportation. Mostly all the countries would have similar licensing procedure. Even if the company is offering cheap car shipping services, they would show the license number. The license numbers are generally printed directly on the side of a truck.

The next significant concern would be the liability insurance. Most of the companies with reasonable auto transportation rates would be properly insured for liability. By liability insurance it means that if your vehicle happens to get damaged during the transit process, the company would pay for the repairs or replacement and not the owners. It is important to verify the insurance details with the carrier. Yet another option is available for the vehicle owner for assuring protection of the automobile. You must check if the company has sufficient financial backing to get the car to the destination and also pay for the damages that occur during transportation.

If you are going for overseas transportation, the research and verification process would be tougher. Here, it is best to go for a domestic based company for ensuring satisfaction. The foreign companies may offer cheap rates but verifying the details of such companies would be hard.

And to make it worse, if any problem occurs, it would be harder to resolve. If the company is unfamiliar to you, confirm the reputation with the Better Business Bureau and see if any complaints has been lodged. Leave off any company with no necessary license or insurance information. It is best to take recommendations from other experienced customers.
